Featuring music from Uzbekistan and Mongolia, a rarity in Los Angeles, the Elephants With Guns group comes to the Levantine Café for one night only in conjunction with Adnan Hussain's exhibition "The Art of Music," featuring 19 paintings of musicians and their instruments from across Central Asia. Elephants with Guns collects music, sounds and noises from different parts of the world, wraps them in twine, and present them to you. Each member's unique cultural and musical background leads to songs that fuse a mixture of different musical styles and genres. With Jayson Joseph and Nikhil Coops on guitars, Maya Taylor on flute, Aanand Dika on tabla and Sumi Dave on drums.Cover: $12 general admission/$15 at the door; $10 Levantine Members/Students to support the Levantine Cultural Center and performers. The Levantine Cultural Center's Inside/Outside Gallery presents a gallery show of paintings by Adnan Hussain, inspired by travels through Central and South Asia, featuring watercolor, gouache and ink pieces of music from Uzbekistan, Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, Uyghurs from China and Pakistan. Enjoy art, live performances, screenings and connect to cultures across language and borders through the beauty of music.

About the Artist

Adnan was raised in both the U.S. and Pakistan on a childhood of writing stories. Besides visual effects and animation on feature films for the likes of Disney and Sony, he works under his company Mad Guru, to create animated films and projects designed to provoke thought and bring diverse people together.
