Leila Jarman

Leila JarmanLeila JarmanLeila Khatibi Jarman served as the Film and Media Coordinator at the Levantine Cultural Center for many months in 2010. She is a graduate of Marymount Manhattan College in New York City with a B.A degree in Political Science with an emphasis on Middle Eastern Studies. Being the daughter of an Iranian in exile, Leila has always felt intinsically connected to the rich history and people of the Middle East. Before joining the Levantine team she spent nearly eight months in Jordan where she produced and directed a social issues documentary called "Voice of the Valley" about two Jordanian women radio hosts who are breaking traditional societal and gender barriers by broadcasting on the social and political issues facing the impoverished Jordan Valley. The film aims to help bridge the ever-widening gap between the Middle East and the West at a time when it is needed most. Leila hopes to use her education and background to continue to export a message of tolerance, knowledge and respect for the Middle East.
