Rima AbouziabRima Abouziab graduated Summa Cum Laude from San Diego State University, earning a BA in International Security and Conflict Resolution and a Minor in Arabic and Islamic Studies. Her previous experience includes holding several executive positions in various non-profit student groups and a six-month student exchange in the Netherlands, where she indulged her love for travel and culture. She also had the privilege of working with a San Diego based non-profit, traveling from Vancouver to DC, where she discovered her love for community engagement and outreach.
As a Lebanese American, she has always had a strong interest in better understanding her background and culture, enhanced by frequent trips visiting relatives in the region. She believes that as the recent uprisings throughout the Middle East and North Africa continue to make headlines here in the west, creating opportunities for inter-cultural dialogue is imperative, now more than ever. Through art and culture, with the help of history and politics, we can begin to move past stereotypes and towards a greater understanding of ourselves and the world we live in. And we must not fail to mention, she serves up (arguably) the best hummus in town!
