no war between Israel and Iran
Happy Nowruz to all our Iranian friends—may this be a year of great creativity, fertility and peace across the world from east to west. Nowruz is a time of renewal and inner reflection, a time for family and friends. It is also a time to join together with peace lovers across the world who know from experience that war scars children, women and men for life.
  • Host and producer Maha Awad interviews America's renowned Islam expert
  • The producer of an American anti-war play, "Sarah's War," talks about his motivations for revisiting the death of Rachel Corrie
By now, many know the story. Nine years ago this month, a young American peace activist was killed in Rafah, Gaza by an IDF militarized Caterpillar D9 bulldozer.

an op-ed by a legal intern on the Rachel Corrie case
When I was asked to write something about the Rachel Corrie case, I was flattered by the request but was also somewhat daunted by the task. a progressive Democrat leaves the party for greener pastures
After the passage of the National Defense Authorization Act, with its codification of imprisonment without charge or trial, I could no longer register voters for the Democratic Party—even with the hope of involving new registrants in the California Democratic Party's popular Progressive Caucus. Gilad Atzmon and Norman Finkelstein marked as Enemies Number One
There was a time when Jewish politics and culture were associated with liberalism, human rights, pluralism and freedom of expression. Those days are clearly over. Nowadays, it is pretty much the opposite. Here in Britain, Jewish nationalist lobbies are engaged in several kinds of repressive behaviour. Their practices include: bullying and harassment, disinformation, and smear campaigns.

Rachid Bouchareb's quiet drama dissects Islamophobia across the pond
Not a whole lot happens in London River, which sets it apart from Rachid Bouchareb's other recent films - sweeping epics like Days of Glory and Outside the Law. Here, the Franco-Algerian director has elected to work on the other end of the scale, and the result is a small, subtle piece that nevertheless packs a hefty emotional punch.
  • Actors and directors from New York travel together
New York actors and directors under the aegis of the venerable New York Theatre Workshop have a chance to travel together to Israel and the West Bank where they meet their theatre counterparts, actors, playwrights and directors struggling to bring their works to the stage. Sturgis Warner, an actor and theatre director, keeps a daily journal on the trip.
