Giorgos SeferisGiorgos SeferisGiorgos Seferis (pen name for Geōrgios Seferiádēs) was born in Urla, Ottoman Empire. In 1914 his family moved to Athens. Later Seferis studied law at the Sorbonne. He also had a long successful diplomatic career in the Royal Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs after moving back to Athens in 1925. Giorgos Seferis was also one of the most important Greek poets of the 20th century. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1963 "for his eminent lyrical writing, inspired by a deep feeling for the Hellenic world of culture". Seferis was the first Greek to receive the Nobel Prize for Literature. He also published a translation of T.S. Eliot's The Waste Land and his famous stanza from Mythistorema was featured in the Opening Ceremony of the 2004 Athens Olympic Games.

Melina Mercouri was an Academy Award-nominated Greek actress, Melina MercouriMelina Mercourisinger, and politician. She is considered one of the greatest female figures of the modern era in Greece. She made her film debut in Stella in 1995 and met international success in films such as Never On Sunday, Phaedra, Topkapi, and Promise at Dawn. She won Best Actress at the 1960 Cannes Film Festival. As a politician she became a member of the Hellenic Parliament in 1997 and the first female Minister for Culture of Greece in 1981. Mercouri was also the brain behind the European Capital of Culture, which has been established by the European Union since 1985.

Angelo TsarouchasAngelo TsarouchasAngelo Tsarouchas is a Greek-Canadian stand-up comedian and actor who now lives in Los Angeles and performs all over the world. He has starred in many feature films, including Heist with Robert de Niro, Marlon Brando and Edward Norton. He frequently appears on stage with his longtime comedian friend Russell Peters. Angelo first performed in a Sultans of Satire show in 2007 and was an instant hit with our Middle Eastern crowd!
