Who's Who at Levantine
Cultural Center
Interns at Levantine Cultural Center
Manar
A. Fakhoury is a first generation Jordanian American.
She graduated in 2006 with a double degree in Political
Science and Theater from Loyola Marymount University in
Los Angeles, and is currently working on her masters in
Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Chicago. She
has traveled many times to the Middle East and studied
abroad at the American University Of Beirut (AUB) during
2005. At Loyola Marymount University she was part of the
committee of Cultural Awareness and currently at University
of Chicago is part of MESSAMiddle Eastern Studies
Student Association. Along with her work experience she
volunteers at There is Hope Foster Family Agency and also
with JACC- Jordanian American Community of California.
She is a Program Assistant at Levantine Cultural Center,
where her work includes research, development and production
of public arts programs. |
Stacy
Lee served as a program intern during Summer 2007. She
is a first-generation Korean-American from Los Angeles with
an unexplainable attraction to ancient Egypt and a passion
for Middle Eastern culture after experiencing the Moorish influence
in southern Spain during her past two summers spent studying
abroad there. She is currently a sophomore at Wellesley College,
majoring in Middle Eastern Studies and Environmental Studies.
She hopes to study abroad in Morocco or Egypt during her junior
year. |
Leah
Robins served as a development assistant during Summer
2007. She is a Jewish American from St. Louis, Missouri with
a strong interest in the Middle East. Currently a senior
at Wellesley College, she is majoring in History with a focus
on the Middle East region. In January 2007 she attended a
conference, Leading up North, in the north of Israel
to discuss the Summer 2006 conflict between Israel and Hezbullah.
At Wellesley, she is involved with the Boston Marathon and
works at the Knapp Media Center to provide technology support.
In addition to her work at the Levantine Center this summer,
she volunteers at the Braille Institute of Los Angeles. As
a development intern at Levantine Cultural Center, her work
included researching and developing funding proposals. |
