Ferial Masry is the author of Running for All the Right Reasons: A Saudi-Born Woman's Pursuit of Democracy. The two women discuss their Lives, their friendship and their books on the Saudi exotique.
Levantine Cultural Center's best-loved creative writing teacher, Elana Golden, leads a special one-of-a-kind creative writing workshop for Armenians and Turks, and their friends. In an atmosphere of respect for our common humanity, this workshop will offer a safe space and guidance for Armenians and Turks to write their stories and those of their families and ancestors, and listen to each other's work from the heart. MENA-X presents incisive talks with experts and guest moderators to help us better understand the complexities of life on the ground in the Middle East and North Africa.
This definitive collection of essays and documents on the movement behind Iran's mass protests will be presented by the anthology's co-editor, Nader Hashemi, with readings by fellow contributors Reza Aslan and Muhammad Sahimi. According to Publishers Weekly, The People Reloaded: The Green Movement and the Struggle for Iran's Future is "a rich, consistently engaging anthology." On Saturday, March 19, Women's Voices Now presents the final day of the Women's Voices from the Muslim World: A Short-Film Festival. The event will include screenings of a multitude of amazing and empowering films along with roundtable discussions and a book reading and signing. Topics include: girls in the Muslim world, health taboos in the Middle East, and women at work, among others. The event will wrap up with an awards ceremony and closing benefit.
